As a result, their back hurts and they carry many useless items that could have left home. If you follow my steps, I guarantee you packing your bag is going to be a piece of cake. Before that, you have to make these three preparatory steps.
- Take everything out of the bag.
- Dispose of any rubbish such as used tissues, empty wrappers or used papers.
- Clean your bag with a wet wipe on the inside and on the outside.
Now that your bag is empty and clean, you can move on and pack.
Classify. Take the things you already have and divide them into three categories. The things you need, the things you don’t need and the things you really want. Let me tell you here that the third category is very important. You might not actually need the extra pair of markers of pastel nudes or that washi tape, but if they make your day brighter and lift your mood, then they are definitely going in the bag. Studying, prepping, organizing and packing must have the element of fun and fulfillment.
Make a list. You know me! Make a list of what should be in your bag. Items that your bag should include are: books, folders, notebooks, binders, pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, markers, sharpeners, post-its, personal items, etc. You can have this list on your desk and check each item you put inside your bag so that you don’t forget anything.
Sort according to your timetable. You don’t have the same lessons every day and you may need different items for every day of the week. The wise thing to do is check your timetable for the next day and sort your bag according to that. A good idea would be to put books in first because they are quite heavy. Also, put any other heavy items in first. So, the lighter items will go inside the bag last and won’t get jammed or smashed.
Be neat. Neatness is key when organizing a bag with limited space. What neat means is that there won’t be any papers around but only in folders. What is more, you should keep all your stationery in pencil cases. Use lunch boxes for your food, and have a nice bottle for your water and liquids.
Include any other items. By any other items, I mean the things or clothes you will need for your extracurricular activities and your electives. Again, please be neat. Put your gym clothes in a separate underwear bag and your extra items in bags or boxes. It really helps if your bag has extra cases for these items. That way, they won’t be stacked with your books and notebooks.
Pack the night before. It sounds really boring. I know. But trust me. It works like a charm. No matter how tired you are and even if you think it’s pointless and a waste of time to pack the night before, let me assure you it is a game changer. The following morning, you will just have to check quickly if everything is in your bag and you are good to go. Sounds nice, huh?
Well, that was it. These are the 6 steps to organize and pack your bag. They save you time and effort and everything is where it’s supposed to be.
